Shedding Innocent Blood

Shedding innocent Blood_canva.png

The Old Testament was noticeably clear about what to do with a cold-blooded murderer. God says in Genesis 9:6, "Whoever sheds man's blood, by man his blood shall be shed; For in the image of God He made man." We can say that a murderer's life when taken is approved of God because his blood is guilty. There are some today who believe it is OK to shed innocent blood. I am talking about those who will not even hesitate to shed the blood of the innocent unborn.

In an article shared with me recently by a good friend, it states that the position of the United Church of Christ on abortion is that abortion is "healthcare." The United Church of Christ should not be confused with the churches of Christ; the United Church of Christ is an entirely different group of people. Imagine people who claim to believe in God and Christ endorsing the evil practice of abortion! While not the main point of this article, why does the United Church of Christ worry about healthcare when the first order is the matter of morality? Sex outside of marriage is a sin, if continued in and never repented of it will cause one to be cast into the everlasting fires of hell! (1 Corinthians 6:9-11). Churches should be preaching the Bible not some warped social gospel which declares abortion a healthcare issue.

The Israelites often strayed from the law of Moses and committed wicked deeds. In Psalms 106 it described how the Israelites mingled with the idol worshiping Gentiles and took up their evil practice of sacrificing to idols.
Psalms 106:37, 38 says, "They even sacrificed their sons and their daughter to demons, and shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood." God declared the land polluted with blood because the Israelites and Canaanites were shedding the innocent blood of their sons and daughters in sacrifice to demon gods!

What about our Country? When our laws allow the legalized killing of the unborn are we not also polluting the land with blood? If it was true in Bible times, it is true today. The shedding of the innocent blood of the unborn certainly does not have the blessing of God on any level nor in any fashion.

Contained in a list of six things that God hates and seven which are an abomination, we find: "...Hands that shed innocent blood" (
Proverbs 6:17). It should cause us to shudder at the thought of supporting or giving the OK to take the life of an unborn child. God hates it!  You cannot find more innocent blood than that of an unborn child.

I hope the reader stands with God on this issue. I also hope that if you are considering an abortion, you will think seriously about the consequences of shedding innocent blood. If you have committed this crime, do not be proud and boast, but mourn and seek the forgiveness of God. I will close with this warning: "But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death" (
Revelation 21:8). Think about these things.
